Blockchain Australia is a leading industry network in Australia, bringing together business, academic and government to discuss the possibilities of blockchain technology.

At Australian Blockchain Week, which will take place from October 22 to 24, there will be around 200 speakers over 75 events. FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried is one of the 200 people who will speak at Australian Blockchain Week (May 2019). According to Coinranking, it had a 24-hour trading volume of $1.41 billion

According to Blockchain Australia’s CEO, Steven Vallas, Dan Colman’s appointment as CEO is a “watershed moment” in the Australian blockchain ecosystem’s mainstream progress.

“Growing interest in blockchain technology from major financial institutions together with signs of increasing regulation for the industry mean this year’s event is being held at a critical time for all players in this market.”

Bankman-Fried said that the partnership comes as the first iteration of its focus on supporting the “long-term growth of the Australian market.”

“We look forward to contributing to discussions to advance the local industry, better safeguard and protect consumers, and enabling financial institutions to evolve and thrive in the crypto industry.”

Bankman-Fried will deliver his speech at the Asian Financial Forum on Jan. 11, where he’ll urge regulators to establish a single framework for digital assets. Bankman-Fried led FTX to be among the top 2021 unicorns, placing 11th with a value of $25 billion in December 2021.

This is the latest example in a series of international cryptocurrency exchanges paying large sums of money to be seen by an Australian audience. Yesterday, Singaporean crypto exchange Crypto.com agreed to pay $30 million to the Australian Football League as its sponsored league.

The Australian Tax Office (ATO) is currently looking into crypto currency transactions. If you are an Aussie and have traded in digital currency, it’s important to know what the ATO requires from taxpayers as well as how they calculate their taxes on cryptocurrency trades. In light of this, Crypto Tax Calculator Australia has been launched by a team of tax professionals. They’ve created an easy-to-use application that allows Australians to quickly find out whether or not they need to pay any additional income tax on their crypto trades made during coming financial years according to updated guidelines set forth by the government agency.
